As a native of southern Alberta, Darryl Reid has enjoyed a lifelong relationship with the areas unique and beautiful environments. His boyhood interest in astronomy and all things optical, combined with a passionate eye for the Earths beauty, eventually led him to landscape photography.
About five years ago - at the urging of friends and family, Darryl took his images beyond his living room walls and began to offer his work to the local community, where it has enjoyed enthusiastic regards and patronage.
Darryl's work has also been well received in various competitions and been granted numerous honors. 'Carved in Sand'- one of Darryl's local images, was awarded a special commendation at the 2010 Sony World Photography Awards in Cannes, France.
As well, 'Crop Buster'-2010 and 'Prairie Lights"-2011 have been included in the Visual Arts Association of Alberta's Open Photography Gallery at the Provincial Gallery in Edmonton Alberta.

Occasionally, nature reveals itself with rare and intimate beauty.
In these brief moments, the common view often becomes an exceptional image.
My photographs are an effort to preserve some of these uncommon scenes and to share with others, the sublime beauty of our world.
